I've been Tagged. 25 random things about me.

1. My favorite color is brick red
2. I hate mashed potatoes- but for some odd reason, I like the instant ones from KFC.
3. I'm lucky. I've always had horses in my backyard. I learned not to tell people about owning horses when I was younger though, because it sometimes ended up being the only reason why kids wanted to be friends with me.
4. I'm named after a song titled "Marcie" by the Four Seasons.
5. I've had the cops pull their guns on me. And, I was in my OWN driveway!
6. I threw up in my aunts small plane while she flew my mom and I over the Grand Canyon.
7. I got stiches on my face Christmas morning when I was in 3rd Grade.
8. I am musically challenged. I can't sing well or play a musical instrument.
9. I was never asked to go to one single dance during school. I did go to 12 or 13 dances but I asked the guys out all of them.
10. I can't stand to touch foam pads. You know, the ones you take camping and sleep on. It's like someone scratching their fingernails down a chalkboard to me.
11. I've shot a deer, a moose, an antelope and an elk.
12. I've been married for 11 years.
13. I love Cafe Rio salads.
14. When I was in 7th grade, my sisters and I were playing hide and go seek on the horses in what used to be the big field by my parents church. Little sis fell off the back and in the commotion, the horse stepped on her head. She had a visible horse shoe print on the side. Boy, was I in trouble...
15. In high school, I drove a car that had a softball sized hole in the floor of the back seat. Then I bought my orange colored 1970 chev pickup. Loved it. Never had to remember where I parked it because it was easy to find. If I could fit my kids in it, I would totally still drive it.
16. I was high point woman for District 3 in the Utah State Western Riding Clubs Association in '96. I was also 4th place woman overall that year for the whole state.
17. I used to be a religious diet coke drinker until last September. Since then, I have had no pop at all.
18. I once took an electrical engineering class at SLCC. I was the only girl. I ended up going on a date with a non member from that class. I later saw him getting married in the Salt Lake Temple the same day as my sister Lisa.
19. Dan DJ'd a party for the cast and crew of the movie "Galaxy Quest". I met Tim Allen at that party. He was a total jerk.
20. I took 3,308 pictures last year. Yep, I'm a picture freak.

You Name It

I'm sitting here, trying to think of something fascinating to write about. The fact is, I just don't think I'm that fascinating. I don't even know how many people are reading this blog anyway. So I've been asking myself, why on earth do I keep it? After some contemplation, I came to two conclusions. First and foremost, it's a place for me to log pictures and stories of my family's life. It's kind of turned into "Scrapbooking for Dummies" for me. Second, I like to think that maybe I have some family and friends out there who are actually interested in what my little family is doing.

You see, I'm kinda having this "Wo Is Me" kind of week. I called up my mom blubbering on about this and that and my sentence ended with "...And I'm boring! Nobody reads my blog 'cause it's boring! I'm not witty and I'm not a good writer. I'm booooring." Which also turns into "I have no gifts, I have no talents, I'm a bad mom, I feel frumpy and on and on and on." I know, I know... Blubber blubber bawl.

I told you it's been a Wo week

You know my mom... she gave just the right amount of "Oh, you are having a rough day" and "I enjoy your blog." Then she quickly began to laugh and laugh. My story of emerging from the shower to find a toilet water soaked 18 month old -still in his pj's and last night's diaper at 10:00 am- baptizing Dan's hunting proclamation, and half a roll of toilet paper, must have set her off. If you'd recall, the little guy had just done this not too long ago.

Funny thing is, I had hollered to Carly over the shower water, "Is Fisher in the toilet?"
"No." She had hollered back.
Satisfied with her answer, I took my leisurely time rinsing my hair out.
When I emerged and found the mayhem I said, "Carly! You said he wasn't in the toilet!"
Her reply, "He's not IN the toilet mom."

True words Carly- true words. Glad we're on the same page.

So at this point of the story I've got the baptized saturated mess and of course there's no garbage bag in the bathroom so I stomp toward the kitchen, holding the dripping mess out in front of me. I turn the corner into the kitchen and I suddenly feel like Eve without her fig leaf as I realize the blinds are open and everyone would be able to see my innocence (snort). I holler for Carly to come fast and bring me the garbage can. You all know she doesn't speak english, right? That's what happens when you're 4. You suddenly don't hear or understand anything your mom says anymore. She finally came and brought it to me and I threw the mess inside. (I swear she rolled her eyes at her crazy naked mom).

So then my mom says, "You need to be like Pioneer Woman and do a giveaway."

I actually snorted.

"What would I possibly give away mom? An expired 25 cent container of Kool-Aid from NPS that dad bought for me?" (NPS aka Market Square is in my top 5 favorite stores by the way. It's up there with this store, this store and this store. I'm thrifty, that's what I am. I love a good bargain.)

By now, both mom and I are rolling in laughter and a little bit of the "Wo" is leaving me.

She says "No, just ask everyone to help you name a picture. You know, like she does."

So, to help get a little more of the "Wo" out of me and my week, I'd like you to help me name this picture of Fisher that involved at least a dozen eggs:

This will be interesting to me because the most comments I've ever gotten out of my 35+ readers is 5. And that happened only twice. It's usually only 1 or 2 (thanks mom). So, let's break my big record and go for 6 or maybe even 7. I think at least 7 of you love me :) I'm not promising any big prizes. I'm not that cool... yet. lol. But I'd love to hear from you. Leave a comment with your suggested title and maybe, just maybe, one of these days, I'll find something "cool" to to give you.
P.S. Does throwing a snowball at you count as something "cool"?

Biorhythms

Have you ever thought about how your biorhythms affect your life? I didn't until I starting working with my mom and her very good friend, Rose, back in 2000. I worked until 2002 and then got laid off and we wanted me home anyway so it all worked out. Anyhow, Rose is a plethera of information and when I first met her, when she'd bring something up, I'd think "yada yada, yada" Boy, was I wrong!! The more I got to know her, the more I KNEW that she KNEW what she was talking about. And from that point on, my morning and afternoon breaks with my Mom and Rose became a time I really looked forward to. An endless supply of information was available to me and the Dr. Pepper wasn't bad either. So, Rose starts talking to us one day about biorhythms. Fancy the fact that our "emotional" biorhythm runs on a 28 day cycle! Ha! Rose coached a softball team and always kept a check on the girls' biorhythms. When they were up in a certain area, she'd play them in a position that she knew they'd excel in. And you know what??? SHE NEVER LOST A GAME!! So today, with the crappy day I've had, I was drawn to check my biorhythms. It only confirmed what I already knew:

"Your general well being is momentarily moderate.
Tendency: declining and getting worse promptly."
PHYSICAL: Today you feel beaten and you'd prefer to lie down all day (I took a nap before I even read this!) If you can arrange it, why not do it?
EMOTIONAL: You feel unsettled and restless.
Don't plan any affairs of the heart in the next few days.
(No surprise here. I yelled at my husband today and he didn't even deserve it.)
INTELLECTUAL: Your intellect and decision making skills are admirable.
(I did fix the deadbolt on the back door, tore apart the remote and fixed it and I screwed the bottom back onto the 2nd drawer of my dresser that was broken).
Unfortunately, Satan also knows how to use regular mood swings against me as well. I won't let him win!
So, go check out your biorhythms! http://www.bio-chart.com/
All you have to do is put in your birthdate. I've become a believer. Will you?

Happy Birthday to My BFF Heather Jo

Happy Birthday to one of my best friends, Heather. We met our junior year of High School. A group of girls asked a group of guys to morp and that's when I met her. We all had dinner at her house and then went with our dates to the dance. It's been a lasting friendship ever since. Her maiden name is Johansen and with so many Heathers around back then, I called her "Jo" and it's stuck. Our lives have always been in these strange parallels. And, she has no filter, which I love. Anything that crosses her mind comes out of her mouth. No holds bar with that girl. She understand ME- and that's a big deal for me. We can go without talking for a while and it's not weird when we see each other again. She helps me talk things through and figure them out when I'm confused. She tells me to buck up when I want to give up. She understands my hormone imbalance and thyroid issues, because for some reason, she's going through them too. God has placed us in each other's lives to lift and support each other through our uniquely parallel lives and experiences. I really appreciate you Jo, you're a great friend to me and my sister by choice. Happy Birthday Heather! I hope Cafe Rio was great!

Afternoon Ice Fishing Trip to Yuba

It just occured to me that Dan has never posted anything to this blog and it's been going strong for over a year now. So when he showed me that he had posted this to a fishing forum, I figured I'd better make a copy and post it here. I'm so grateful to have a wonderful husband who is also a great father. He is always taking the kids places with him, even if it's just to Home Depot. Here's his post in all its glory-

I went out for a pm trip to Yuba yesterday with 2 of my little ones, 7 yr old Hunter and 4 yr old Carly. We got to the boat ramp at 4:30 and headed north, punched a few holes as we watched the sun slip behind the mountains. Hunter informed me that Carly would get to reel in ALL of our fish so that she could learn how. we caught 3 in about 20 minutes. It made the whole trip worth it to see her reel those monsters in. We saw that everyone was heading for their cars and then we saw someone walking out to us. They had left the lights on and had a dead truck battery, luckily I had some jumper cables and we got them on their way. In all the commotion of putting my kids in my truck, grabbing snow gear and getting my truck started, I had a pole fall out on the north side of the boat ramp. Ice was 7-8 inches thick and it was 17 degrees when we left.

**By the way, a guy went fishing to Yuba today and posted on the fishing forum that he had found Dan's pole! Pretty cool!

I've been thinking...

I've been thinking about winter. Initially, I don't really care for it. It's cold. And I don't do well in the cold. I've always said I would have made a sucky pioneer. I would of had to trek to someplace warm... like Florida. But really, the cold part is the only thing I don't really care for. I've only been skiing once my whole life and I've lived in Utah with the "Greatest Snow On Earth" since birth. So here's a pic of the house with all the white goodness. And no, I didn't black out my house number, and someone could probably blow up the picture and read it. But since I was feeling lazy and since all my family and friends read my blog, and none of you are too weird to be considered a "weirdo", and most of you already know where I live anyway, I'll take my chances :) So back to the topic of winter. If we didn't have winter, I would never appreciate my favorite season, Spring. And if we didn't have winter, I would never be able to dream of the snow when it's 101 degrees outside in August.

There's another great thing I love about winter:
In the winter, ALL yards are created equal. No one has a lawn greener than mine, no-one has prettier flowers than me and most important in my book, I don't have more weeds than anyone else on the block. Weeds... I don't like them. They definitely are "Noxious" and we get a TON of them. When you've got an acre, you just can't keep up. Heck, when I had a tiny yard at our first house I couldn't keep up either. So, if you ever come to visit in the summer (and you just might because I left the house number in that picture up there, ha ha ha) just know that the weeds come with the house. They love me and come back EVERY year. I'd rather be out riding horses with the kiddos than pulling those darn weeds. Oh, and don't expect to see them cleared out of the garden either, we grow both tomatoes and weeds very well out there.

So, the winter helps me feel completely guilt free about the yard. I never feel like I should be out taking care of it like I do in the summer. I always feel like there's too much to do when it's warm outside. And look, the kids can have a picnic when it's cold too.

And the kids get to do fun things like this.
So after much contemplation...
I've decided I kinda like this winter stuff.
It's a good change and a good break for me.
Do you like the winter?

I'm thinking of a song...

I'm thinking of a song...

It's by Travis Tritt-
And I'm dedicating it to this little guy.

In the last three days, he has broken 1 plate, and 1 bowl by climbing on the table and throwing them to the floor. He has dumped out an entire box of Cheerios, unrolled one roll of toilet paper and shredded it all over, AND he had a smile on his face.

He has opened a drawer in the kitchen, stood inside it and grabbed a bottle of salsa and threw it to the ground, smashing it into a million pieces. And he has put all the wipes into the toilet and flushed, leaving an inch of water all over the bathroom floor...

Hello T.R.O.U.B.L.E.

A little slow

I'm a little slow in posting, oh well. I love this family picture Dan's dad took of us. I honestly think it's the only family picture we had taken all year.

Dan's mom gave us this cute bear.

Fisher thought he was taking pictures of all of us. He'd look into the end and make a funny face.

I actually like this picture Dan's dad took of me, no makeup and all.
I hope you had a good holiday, I know we did!

Flashback Friday

I don't know if I've shared this or not, but this is Hunter back in August of 2004 so he was almost 3 years old. Dan was driving with him one day and asked him "What does mommy say?" and Hunter came up with that answer on his own. Guess I said it a lot. To translate, daddy says "Let's go fishing!" Also, Grandpa refers to my dad. He used to say that to Hunter when he was getting into something he shouldn't have. Anyhow, here's our blast from the past enjoy!
