Meet Hunter... The Chicken Farmer!

Hunter wanted chickens last year and we never got them. So all through the winter we heard over and over again, "I can't wait for Spring so we can get chickens!" Springtime came, and so did the chickens. Dan and Hunter picked this coup up off KSL for FREE! Score! They just had to replace a few boards and it was good to go. Our friend, Keith Letham gave Hunter 5 chickens, including one rooster. Boy, was that rooster noisy! That night we slept with our windows open and were awakened by him at 4:00 am. I told Dan "Are you KIDDING me?? Shoot it! Just shoot it!" After 2 weeks of that, Dan took him for a drive back to Keiths and snuck him back into the coop. He's never said anything about the rooster being back so I don't even know if he's even noticed yet and it's been 2 months, LOL! So, here's some pics of the chickens -the rooster :)


This is and older hen we got from Keith. Being old is probably the reason she was the top of the pecking order. Hunter named her Snow White. She has since gone "wobbly" and died.

and Speed Girl (bottom left)
I guess Speed Girl is really hard for Hunter to catch, hence her name. Oh, and let's just say that the Rooster REALLY liked the ones that are missing feathers :) We're currently only getting 1 or 2 eggs a day and are not sure which hens are laying and which aren't.

Hunter can hardly wait until the young hens start to lay too. There's a few that are supposed to lay blue green eggs and he's excited about that.
