If these boots could talk

They'd tell you how they were shiny and new just last December. * How they were purchased at Saddle Up for a little boy named Hunter for Christmas. * How much Hunter loved them and wore them religiously everyday for 6 months, even with his shorts. * How comfortable they were on his feet. * They'd tell you of their great adventures chasing dinosaurs in the backyard and digging up fossils. * How they'd chase dogs and save baby birds. * How they'd taken a splash in the kiddie pool in the backyard and soaked in the sprinklers when they were forgotten on the lawn. * They'd tell you about riding a horse named Cookie and winning blue ribbons on her. * How they ended up staying in Hunter's stirrups because they were rubber banded in when his feet came out of them on the way home from poles. His stocking feet were hilarious.

They'd tell you how Hunter starting walking funny in them when his heel could no longer find the bottom and molded itself into the inside of the left boot. * How he wore the inner heel of them almost right off. * How they were at Church every sunday with dress pants and how they had a hard time keeping still during sharing time. * They'd tell you about the day they went Mutton Bustin' and felt like they were famous when Hunter was shown riding a sheep on Channel 4. They'd tell you how they were there when Grandpa Tex brought his pigeons to school during Kindergarten and how they were on Hunter's feet when he let a pigeon go to fly home. * They'd tell you they were there for every tear he shed when he fell and scraped his knee. And for every hug he gave his mommy and daddy. * How they always went with Hunter and his dad to mow Grandpa Dutch's lawn and how he always had popcorn and root beer. * They'd tell you about the time Hunter laughed so hard he almost fell down when his daddy put on his bright blue helmet and pretended to be a little kid. * They'd tell you about the day Hunter wore them inside his daddy's boots and how it was nearly impossible to get daddy's boots off because they were stuck inside. * They'd tell you about all the places Hunter climbs, from the counter top to reach the cereal, to the top of the fridge, over the cinder block wall and to the top of the hay cube pile. * They'd tell you how they've done laundry and dishes. * How they've been there when Hunter soothed his crying baby brother, or carried his brother to his mommy.* They'd tell you how they've fed the cats, played at recess and been to the county dump. * They'd tell you of all the miles they've walked inside Target and the great bargains that were found there. * They'd tell you how they went fishing and easter egg hunting, and how they climbed the rock wall at the Outdoors Expo. * They'd tell you how they've rode Chigger, went camping, and chased a butterfly or two. * They'd tell you how much they've enjoyed all the adventures they've taken and if they had to do it all over again, they would, because when your best friend is a little 6 year old boy, LIFE IS GOOD.

This is a really clever post, Marcie. Those boots were made for walkin' . . . and ridin' . . . and climbin' . . .

This is the cutest...I love it. Sorta brings a tear to your eye. I hope he give them a proper burial. Maybe you should put them in a box with the date and his name on the box...put them down in the storage room. Some years down the road, you will have a real treasure he can laugh about. Oh, put a print out of this blog page in the box too...Hugs
